Into the Woods

In The Woods
In the woods, smells of smoldering leaves,
velvety mushrooms and carpets of moss grow.

Owls, deer and red fox are watching you
as you enter the sacred cathedral of limbs, bark, and ferns.

the honor guard of trees stand at attention,
Swords of branches arched above.

You hear nothing but the ceremonial sounds of silence,
while whispers of movement ask you to dance with the wind.

Sunlight seeps through the sky, casting shadows onto the ground, and you find,
untouched, immaculate, the temple of untrodden leaves.
